The Pond at the Ole Home Place

In 1979, Bob Brashears built a four-acre pond on his farm 3.5 miles west of Perry, Missouri. He built the pond for family recreation events such as picnicing, fishing, boating and birthday parties. Over the next four decades, none of us would have guessed at the useage "The Pond" would get by our family spread out all over the United States. What great memories we all have!

Below are videos that Emily Brashears Kelly edited and produced that are a sampling of the great fun we all had at the Ole Home Place Pond where family events still take place to this day. The last 4 videos were shot by Mel Brashears in 1985 and 1988 and converted from VHS on 3 June 2009.

The "Ole Home Place" is 160 acres of the original 640 acre B. F. Vaughn Homestead of the 1880s and the birthplace of Robert Vaughn Brashears in a house his father built in 1907. Pat Brashears Grimmett still resides in the homestead house.
